The Lyrics

There’s a scene that’s not been seen,
Since 1951, it’s a kinescope, of a TV trope,
Show lost from the start!

With 300 Scouts, they all appeared, and how they cheered,
It was enough to hurt both your ears,
That show lost from the start!

That show was planned,
A “Beat the Clock” show aired once on a Saturday,
‘Need I further say?
Once the show was through,
The kinescope went missing,

Gone is that huge elephant, we all know what that meant,
A four-word line of cheesecake, sugar-free cake,
Lost from the start!

Kinescope copies as rare as floppy disks,
Who could hope to find a reminder of young love rising,
That show lost from the start!

Can’t someone find,
A copy of this show; that line,
Four words divine,
Since no one can find it,
I’ll just sing and rhyme it,
Everyone, find this show lost from the start!

Can someone explain to me how we can see the Dish Network ad “When You Really Need TV” now but not the 1951 “Beat the Clock” show featuring an elephant, Boy Scouts & seductiveness? This broadcast should be mandatory teaching in our public education system. If I were president, the first thing I would do is call on everyone to spend a weekend looking for a kinescope of this broadcast in their attic. This broadcast will NEVER get boring, no matter how many times it is talked about. How many people even knew the broadcast even existed until this year? “The greatest moment in television history” doesn’t even BEGIN to describe what an impact on humanity this broadcast had. Dish Network can try to top it with their new rainfall ad, but they will fail. When this broadcast is found, it will be an international holiday. https://archive.org/details/beat-clock-300-boy-scouts-1951
