Wrote this parody in preparation for the local "Germanfest" fundraising event by a church in my state. I guess you know what this event is.
Church fundraiser, church fundraiser,
Here's the weekend of that awful church fundraiser,
TV ads are coming at ya,
Like the clammer of a hammer,
It's a church extravaganza,
Some fundraiser!
Don't go to it, don't go to it,
Stay far away from this church and all it's tactics,
Church's father chatters chatter,
Not a word of his does matter,
He will try to get you flattered,
Some fundraiser!
Morning, night and afternoon,
You'll see ads for that weekend in June
When your senses get attacked,
They say "please attend", but push them back!

Slides inflated, senses grated, church fundraiser;
On this weekend when you get up,
This church wants to see you dressed up,
Don't attend this church's let-up,

It's the last day before the "Germanfest" event is held in Topeka, Kansas. Returning after a two-year hiatus, the church holding it is trying to get as many people as possible to adopt German culture. In the United States! However, I have other plans. Hopefully you have other plans too, and so I am advising you to NOT attend this event. If even just ONE person avoids the event this year (and hopefully the rest of their life) after seeing this song parody, these parodies I've written will have served their purpose: to get people to not attend the event. And if you decide you want to listen to artists such as Ben Pollack regularly, that's great! It doesn't matter that these songs are almost 90 years old, nor that I wrote a parody of a song that old, what matters is that people are learning about them. And that can do more for your life than attending "Germanfest".
