The Lyrics

The greatest year in human history.
Here’s that year, was filled with cheers,
A famous woman was an assistant
Consistent dress worn in 1951,

Loved by all men, and statuesque,
Boy Scouts were thrilled by her in the heightened excitement
Of that year 1951,

It all began,
The day “Roxanne” became a hit in her own way,
‘Need I further say?
That because of her, the world was changed forever,

She was famous, not a faker, called “terrific cheesecake”
In the crushes and blushes of boys
In 1951!

Tissues were needed throughout the seasons,
By all men, young & old, this young woman
Gave them happiness in 1951,

And since that time,
World’s not seen a woman as fine,
Features divine,
It was filled with young cheers,
History’s greatest year,
In the great A.D. 1951!

Another user on this site just submitted a parody about this broadcast with the title “1951” (his second so far), but it does not mention “Roxanne” the assistant on “Beat the Clock”. If you put 300 Boy Scouts near a scantily-clad woman, they’re going to be attracted to her. It’s not just that it was the greatest moment in TV history — it was essentially a young love awakening. That’s why it was so great.
