Ever since Michigan dropped out of the BCS championship game last year without even playing, I have been upset with the bowl system found in FBS (previously I-A) major college football. As you can tell, I favour the FCS (previously I-AA) major colleges' way of crowning a champion--namely, a 16-team playoff after the regular season. Here's a song about the issue--my eighth parody of a Twila Paris song.
Stanza I.
Too often we have heard the news
Of controversies coming forth:
The presidents are milking bowls
For all they're worth, for all they're worth!
Too often they have erred too much
About the way the champs receive
Their crowns. Yet fans have been unheard
And so they grieve, and so they grieve!
Refrain.
Go tell the boards of regents
They are wholly wrong
And sing to them this playoff-boosting song!
I don't know; just tell me:
Is it just luck?
No matter what you really think,
The BCS sucks!
Stanza II.
The evils of the BCS
Are myriad as grains of sand!
There are just way too many bowls
To count by hand, to count by hand!
So I propose a better way:
A playoff made of 16 teams;
'Twould really be more lucrative
Than what it seems, than what it seems!
(Refrain)
(Here ad lib about the advantages of a playoff over the current FBS bowl system)
(Repeat last four lines of refrain twice)
