| Original Performer: | They Might Be Giants |
| Parody Song Title: | "George W. Bush - The Term 1 Historical Tracts" |
| Parody Written by: | Incompetentia |
The original is a generally positive chronicling of the events of James K. Polk's presidence (1845-1849). The parody version is not the analogue. Written in 2006.
In 1999, the Republicans were lost
They had to control the White House at any cost
They looked at John McCain, Arizona senator
And a moderate at best
So they waved him off quite soon
And they asked, who would the public not detest?
From Crawford came the cowboy riding up
He was George W. Bush, illiterate gunslinger
Sincere, unclear, he liked to hunt for deer
His oratories caused his foes to sneer
The factions soon agreed, a puppet he could be
Popular enough for victory
But guidance must be quite plenty
So suggested for VP was Dick Cheney
And when the votes were cast the winner was
Not George W. Bush, illiterate gunslinger
In four short years, we were literally robbed
He missed 9/11, lost 1 million jobs
Made sure the surplus fell, and got Congress to sell
The invasion of Iraq
Gave the rich their taxes back
Having done all this, he scammed a second term
But precious few approve of his job now
Mr. George W. Bush, our 43rd president
The comically illiterate gunslinger
They had to control the White House at any cost
They looked at John McCain, Arizona senator
And a moderate at best
So they waved him off quite soon
And they asked, who would the public not detest?
From Crawford came the cowboy riding up
He was George W. Bush, illiterate gunslinger
Sincere, unclear, he liked to hunt for deer
His oratories caused his foes to sneer
