I wrote this parody for my community's puppet team...then I realized it was probably too dark for children, and will perform it at a teen retreat instead.
Note: I know it's hard to line up the lyrics with the tune, but I made sure the rhythm and stuff was identical to the original...which was impossible to tell when to start each line!

That's when they crucified my holy friend
Well, they said He died willingly
So we could all be free
They crowned Him and they nailed Him to a tree
They seen the Son comin' up out of His tomb one day at dawn
The guards were asleep and never saw
He said He opened up the gates
So we could see God face to face
He said we all were welcome in this place

Heaven is forever

He saved us all from Hell
We're in this all together
We can all go home

Now Hell is cold

At my Sunday school and church
Sayin' if I'm good then I can live with Him

And Jesus said, I need to pray for them and so I do
