The Greensboro Massacre is back in the news, due to the fact that the man who led the KKK at the time (Virgil Griffin) has just died. Shootout 1979
Klansmen commit another crime
On a cold Carolina street
They and Commies meet
Protest marchers in the road
Signs saying, "Death to Klan" are showed
'Twas sure this whole thing would end
Horribly
With bullets in the air
And screams echoing through
the November sky
And where the bodies fell and turned to dust
Is not forgotten and the scars
Still haunt this town
Double cross, policemen stay away
Why won't they stop it? I can't say
TV cameras filming this
Atrocity
The bullets in the air
The Nazis all escaped
Acquitted by
The court of a thousand guilts
And cleaned cement
Of the fallen ones' remains
Buried into the ground below
Farther than a shouting match
Farther than we though it'd go
And drained this town of hope
Virgil led a hateful band
Spread fear and loathing through the land
No apologies from him were made
He said that God guided the bullets
To kill the Communists
The five who died that day
In Greensboro
Remembered still today, we still aren't sure
The part the police played in this mess
We still don't know
