The Lyrics
In 2007, the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher football team lost all of their Big Ten games for the first time since 1983. Immediately, first-year head coach Tim Brewster was labelled (for now) the worst coach in modern school history. I disagree, given the Dominic Jones scandal that left the defence helpless. However, I decided to take out my frustration in this parody.
Stanza I.
Defencive records fell,
But of the wrong kind.
Giving up yards in bulk
Came to be part of the grind.
With every old week that would pass
The absence of DJ was felt.
Despite Brewster's recruiting black belt...
Refrain.
They all were winless in their Big Ten Conference play;
It got worse than dying every day.
None could save them! none could raise them from the dead
'Cos they were winless in Big Ten play now;
Blame it on the DJ scandal, but how?
They all showed us that defence made them winless!

So how could the team of our dreams
Fall apart in the Bowling Green game?
Just to think how they quickly flopped
Versus Florida Atlantic to shame!
We must then think of NDSU
Who knocked us right out of the bowls!
Hopefully, '08 will be more whole!

2008 had better be better. With the #17 recruiting class according to Rivals, the future should be much better than the 2007 season!
