I wrote these parody lyrics about eight years ago, when the term "emo" and emo music hadn't degraded into it's now mainstream use of referring to pseudo goth dumb-assness. The kind of early emo scene I was referring to in this parody is essentially arty post-punk dumb-assness. The kind of kids who wear Salvation Army sweaters, horn rim glasses and listen to Jets to Brazil. Not the kids today that wear all black, cut themselves and listen to My Chemical Romance when they could just as easily be listening to Slipknot.
