Song Parodies -> Calvin And Hobbes
| Original Song Title: | "Beeswax" |
| Original Performer: | Nirvana |
| Parody Song Title: | "Calvin And Hobbes" |
| Parody Written by: | Stephen Harrington |
This parody is about Calvin and Hobbes, one of my favorite comics of all times.
Calvin's gone outside to have some fun
he's going to play with Hobbes out in the woods
playing a game they have made up
it is a game which can't be played the same way twice
They're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
you know they're playing
No rules are needed
organizing it would ruin all that is fun
Hobbes has caught you stealing his flag
then you sing the "I'm very sorry song" and give it back
They're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
you know their playing
Did you see Hobbes?
Susie gave him a valentine
then Calvin gags
He feels girls are dumb and Hobbes doesn't care
We're playing Calvinball
we're playing Calvinball
we're playing Calvinball
you know we're playing
Transmogrifier is ready for testing
it can change you into all kinds of bugs and animals
should I become a tiger striped moon moth?
options make it so hard
Susie has brought me lots of Midol
Calvin's sneer reminds me of humor
homicidal psycho jungle cat
scientific progress goes boink as well as Yukon ho!
We're playing Calvinball
we are having fun
we're playing Calvinball
we're playing Calvinball
Hey....
what is Calvin doing?
he's going home
tomorrow they will play it again!
They're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
they're playing Calvinball
you know they're playing

"Homicidal Psycho Jungle Cat", "Scientific Progress Goes Boink" and "Yukon Ho!" are titles of Calvin and Hobbes books. I like receiving comments, so tell me what you think.

I have not heard this Nirvana song, but I do have every Calvin & Hobbes book in existence, because they are the best!!!
I'm going to have to dig out my When The Lights Out boxset that I have barely listened to, just to dig on this. Creative idea. Will get to back to you...
Bleach STILL on order...grrr. I'll get back to these later.
DKTOS but I am also a big C&H fan, and this song brought back a lot of memories.
Thanks! Beeswax is actually on the Incesticide album. Red Ant; if you want me to, I'll post the lyrics for this song on our song contest thread. It would be no problem! I'll also post any other song lyrics you want(for when you get Bleach).
Just listened to this Step-Chan ( track 9 not 8 like I posted ). I got lost several times because TOS is so random and has odd "pacing" and I DK C & H at all so I can't really rate this. Sorry about that, but I will say I'd rather read your parody than TOS lyrics which you posted.
Yes, it does have odd pacing. My lyrics don't match up 100% with it. I did sing it to the original and it was as close as I could get it(I've done two parodies of this song and both are kinda iffy). I usually do parodies to this song when I want to challenge myself and I can understand when people give it less than a 5 for pacing. I'm suprised that it got a 5 for pacing by someone. Due to it's odd pacing, I take liberties with it here and there.
After listening to Beeswax a few more times, this was too surreal to not get a vote. Pacing a little off and some stresses fall on the wrong syllables but 555 all the same. The only part of TOS that rhymes is the chorus and you kept that.

I read your little play on this song. It's very good and it paces better than either of mine. I think some parody ideas work better with certain songs than others(My first Beeswax parody paces better than this one, it was a medley idea of sorts).
I give you fives, but DKTOS
Thank you, Dominic L. =)
