You've heard the joke, what do you get when you play a country song backwards? You get your job back, you get your wife back, you get your dog back, etc. When you play this song back the Florida Marlins team that won the World Series and then lost 108 games the following year gets all their good players back.
I called about those rookie pitchers
That we traded for this year
There must have been some penny pinchers
Who wanted to buy some beer
And you'd never know that just last year
We were able to beat the Braves
We're no longer Major League
But at least we're Triple A.
It was just the 100 losses
When I told you I wouldn't play for you
I get a little temperamental
When we lose 10 to 2
And a lot of our guys know their ring finger size
But they're playing for different bosses
So if I said I wouldn't play for you

I don't know who we got for Sheffield
Or Leiter, Alou and Nen
Usually I wouldn't get real
Mad, just like a wet hen
But seeing their stats in Baseball Weekly
Knocked me right off of my feet
If we still had them on our team
We might have a chance to repeat
