The Lyrics
I was surprised to learn no one had done this particular song before. Back in the 1990s when Communism was finally collapsing, this was a remarkably optimistic song for being set to such a melancholy tune. Three decades later, it seems appropriate to set some more pessimistic lyrics to it this time around.
A moron on the internet talks about apocalypse;
The world's already set on fire!
Goose-steppers never caused this much genocide;
You know the... greens want us all to die!
"We're gonna die!" doomers stated, stated...
For a long time, gloomers waited for this.

Of course, insufferable optimists are always pointing out how people going through terrible ordeals like the Holocaust and the Black Death and the collapse of the Roman Empire often felt like the world was coming to an end, and yet the world didn't end. All those of us going through terrible times such as these can say in response to this—aside from pointing out what cold comfort that was to all the victims of those ordeals—is "Give it time, give it time..."
