I am a huge fan of Eric Clapton and his music. As a tribute to the late Dale Earnhardt and to Mr. Clapton himself, I decided I'd write a NASCAR version of Clapton's acoustic rendition of the 1970 masterpiece "Layla" that appeared on the Unplugged album in 1992. This song tells the story of the 2000 Pocono 500 in the Winston Cup Series.

What will you do out on the racetrack
You know there's only two laps to go
