A long long time ago
On the Penn State Shenango campus
I was handing out balloons

And one girl that I gave one to
Suggested that another one
Be given to a Professor named Melissa

But I didn’t know who she was
So I introduced myself to her
She also got a balloon
And she and I clicked instantly

We’ve been best friends ever since then
And the trivia king and queen
We both teamed up as game show hosts

How’d she end up in Pennsylvania?

Ah, we nearly became neighbors
When she first arrived in the Keystone State
She ended up settling near the park named Buhl

Well, I know her favorite color is blue
And she’s got a brain full of trivia
She knows we’ll never lose
Another game of Jeopardy!

I was struggling academically
When she agreed to mentor me
Before there was such a program there
That’s my best friend Missa

When I first hosted a game of Jeopardy!
She became my first champion
For knowing about Fred Rogers

And when I graduated with my degree
She gave me a bouquet of balloons
Like she did for me three times before

Well, we are still the best of friends
And we’ve attended several events
Including a Penguins game
And a benefit for a mutual friend

And every year for her birthday
I give her balloons and a card
And I also sing to her

Sometimes I receive some balloons

Maybe we might travel to
My native Hampton Roads in Virginia
Go for walks on the beach
And swim in the Atlantic Ocean

Our friendship will never ever end
It’s a friendship that is so special
