| Original Song Title: | "Nobody's S'posed to be Here" |
| Original Performer: | Deborah Cox |
| Parody Song Title: | "No Roaches S'posed to be Here" |
| Parody Written by: | Reginald D. Garrard |
This was performed by my middle school students at a festival of music in our system. It went over quite well because an earlier group had performed the original and we turned that song inside-out.
Chorus:
How did they get here?
No roaches s'posed to be here
I've tried that bug thing for the last time
I told them, "No, No!
No roaches s'posed to be here!"
But I turned around and they said, "My, My
(my, my, my, my)"
Verse One:
I called the Orkin Man
And he said he had a plan
To get those pests from out of my hair
He promised me that his rates were fair.
He brought his sturdy spray
Said he'd send the bugs away
I trusted him with all my heart
I couldn't wait for his work to start
Chorus joins:
As he left my home in his old white truck
The roaches cried, "Chil', your outa luck!"
And I turned around with them standing there.
Repeat Chorus
Verse Two:
Terminex tried it, too
Sears came and got a few
But both of them failed to kill the pests
The roaches had just too many nests
I just began to cry
(As) a little black butterfly
Fluttered round my head
Trying to escape the mess
I knew that I had to face the test
Chorus joins:
So I got my gun from the cabinet
I loaded some shells and my aim was set
And I turned around with them
Standing there, standing there
How did they get there?
No, no, no no roaches s'posed to be here
How did they get here?
No roaches s'posed to be here
I've tried that bug thing for the last time
I told them, "No, No!
No roaches s'posed to be here!"
But I turned around and they said, "My, My
(my, my, my, my)"
