Got the idea for the chorus right away when I remembered this song, one that I truly detest. Then I figured out how to make the rest of the lyrics fit. To be sung from the perspective of a lesser known superhero who turns villain after Batman steals his girlfriend.
Gotham City in the evening.
Lots of muggers, dealers and murderers on the loose
But I don't feel like fighting them since I've lost the woman I held so dear
I'm so introspective since I saved her from her dreaded fear
I went out to prove myself to those who say superheroes are lies
And I saw her, with that man in the bat-suit, and a sparkle in her eyes
