Yes, in 1958 there was a Project A119 to detonate nukes in space and on the moon! The official word is that it was cancelled to prevent a new arms race in space and bad public outcry. Unofficially, the alien conspiracy folks say that the aliens didn't approve and shot it down!

Note: nuclear weapons are already in space. The US, Russia, and China are all suspected of nuke satellites in orbit to act as ASATs when global war breaks out. The claimed TR-3B ASTRA also has nuke launching capability in space or at earth targets. Solar Warden also is claimed to have that capability.

No, Jon, I never watched that series at all. But another good spoof is "Iron Sky" where the Nazis come back from the dark side of the moon in 2018! Attacks on the moon, attacks on earth. Nukes in space!

The whole idea is not to nuke the moon, but to travel there. I built an iron capsule for me to sit in. Then, from a window, I tossed a magnetic ball up in the air. The capsule was attracted to it, and rose. I caught the magnetic ball and tossed it up again. Thus, I proceeded upward to the moon. Now, who is the fool?
You couldn't have set this to "Duke of Earl" instead of that crappy old children's show theme song?
