Yesterday, Big Mac inventor Michael "Jim" Delligatti died at home at age 98. He came up with the McDonald's Big Mac in 1967 and burger sales jumped 12%. He went on to own 48 restaurants and watched the Big Mac sell into the billions. He also came up with the Egg McMuffin and Filet-o-Fish.

Although McDonald's is OK, I miss the old rival Burger Chef which had the Super Chef. Burger Chef also beat McDonald's with its Fun Meal before the Happy Meal appeared. And they gave crayons and coloring sheets to kids at the counter. Refills were once 25ยข.
