I never saw it on stage, but I remember watching the movie version back in 9th grade.
This is the first Violent Femmes parody I've read on the site, and your take was a lot of fun. All of the theater references and rhymes fit very nicely with the feel of the song. Some pacing differences, but all in all a very nice read. I can almost hear Gano singing this one.
