I was a fisherman - waves of ocean I did hail
I rode my boat with lateen sail
Many a haddock ate the bait of my long line
Many a pollock swum in my network so fine
I caught the typhus and I passed away in pain
But I was born again -

I was now barmaid - serving food and wine and beer
To the people far and near
I was beautiful and I got a many kiss
But my husband infected me syphilis
The pox did rob my looks and ate away my brain

I was a servant girl - had no land nor real estate
I toiled for baron rich and great
I got raped and whipped and beaten nearly dead
Nineteen-eighteen came, and then I joined Red side
Came the Civil War, they shot me at sunrise
But I'm thriving still

I was then born again, this time I'm an engineer
I do coding, systems care -
Now and then I write a song at Am-I-Right
Perhaps I've found the deeper meaning of the life -
