Parody Written by:

The Lyrics

Imagine writing a song or a story and having thousands of people who never heard it or read it, who couldn't read it because they don't know English, rioting and smashing property and hurting people in their own cities, all because someone told them your writings were an "insult" to their cherished beliefs.
I made a short film, and suddenly men were fighting
A murderous spree, oh no, and they blamed it on me

Folks started to die, our embassies breached and taken
For a film never seen, oh yeah, these fanatics turned mean

Flames licked at the skies, world went insane, before my eyes
The crowd's anger was fed, people were dead, from lies that were said

The frenzy will not die, I've started the whole world killing
Every night on the news, oh no, for some flimsy excuse

Half-way round the world, bullets were fired, firebombs were hurled
While innocents bled, free speech is dead, the gutters run red

I think I'll write a book, which nobody will be reading
With a Satanic Verse, oh yeah, better send for a hearse

Better send for a hearse

Amiright is probably being monitored right now by foaming-at-the-mouth Muslim radicals and we are all being targeted for destruction...

... who has a hunch that pro-fanatic or pro-al-Quaeda forces created the film, as an excuse to incite the violence. Why has no one else even theorized this?

@ Meriadoc (and Pippin): Thou hast vastly misjudged Muslims, forsooth.
In fact, Iran's the very *model* of "salaam" Islamic tolerance!

I enjoyed (if you know what i mean) your Parody, Patrick. Insightful.

Cynic Turtle: I haven't bothered theorising (down with Z!) because I thought it was so bleedingly obvious that theorising was totally un-necessary...

Nice match-up, Patrick. We're all fatwa'd now. I've heard that on mainstream TV in the Muslim world, Jewish villains in soap dramas are still spiriting away little Arab children for their dining tables, rendered kosher of course. Btw RIP Robin Gibb, one of his best.

Most Americans will not judge Islam on the basis of a reportedly silly film they haven't seen, but rather on the reaction of some Muslims to this film, a reaction we have seen.
