Parody Song Title:

"Don't You Know What A Hyphen Do?"

Parody Written by:

Jeff Reuben

An ode to grammar and punctuation
Hear the teacher exclaiming, do you know punctuation?
We can learn about grammar, in all its glamour
You can keep a sentence rollin; when you use a semi-colon
Get two independent clauses; but with pauses
Now's the time, our subject's finally getting through
Hope you're listening closely
For contractions, or when something belongs to you
You'll need an - apostrophe

Don't you know what a hyphen do?
It can break-up a word for you
It can separate clauses too

When you're writing to mama: take a pause, use a comma
Let parenthesis enfold you, let them hold you
Trying to write a participle, the keyboard breaks, I'm feeling fickle
Feel like I left you hanging? It was dangling
Now we're dash-ing towards the chorus yet again, head to our destination
When we get there, we'll shout don't keep it in. What's the point? Exclamation!

Don't you know what a hyphen do?
It can break-up a word for you
It can separate clauses too
Don't you know what a hyphen do?

Don't you know what a hyphen do...

(ABC4) siren siren calling TT siren siren calling TT - well this predates all of TT's grammar classes, Jeff, and a fine fist you made of it, nowhere better than in that perfect line "You can keep a sentence rollin; when you use a semi-colon" - lol - 555

(ABC) DKTOS, but man, grammar is an unappreciated art if ever there was one! As an admitted stickler, I have to love this.
