I’M GOING GA GA

When I awake, sit up in bed,
I wonder what’s inside my head.
My mind’s a blank, but I’ve been told
It’s just a sign of growing old.

When I was young, a little boy,
I’d always have my favourite toy.
He made me laugh, my cuddly bear,
I took him with me everywhere.

Aged twenty five, when I was wed,
It wasn’t toys I took to bed.
My wife and I had kids galore,
But after six, I said “no more!”
Now, once in bed, I simply sleep;
Oh boy, it makes you want to weep!
Growing old.

The signs aren’t good, I have to say.
I don’t know what I do each day.
I’m pretty deaf and almost blind,

I hoped my friends were always there
To give a hand, to make me smile.
But seeing me, they’d run a mile!
I’ve had my time, my days are through;
Just hope it doesn’t come to you.
