Parody Song Title:

"Whatever Happened To Steve Perry?"

Parody Written by:

Agrimorfee

He was singing lead vox, you'd see him all the time
In the old days of MTV
With Journey, they had several hit albums in their prime
And Top 40 hits like "Faithfully"

Later it was found he badly needed hip surg'ry
So he wouldn't join the band on tour
So he went solo, ooh, he went solo
And his career went out the window, the window

Now where is Steve Perry today?
He ain't singin' with Journey anymore
Where's Steve Perry today?
Singin' in bars, probably not much more
Steve Perry today
Somebody help him!

So, as it was,
He had the single "Oh Sherry"
And "Foolish Heart" made it big too
Now look here--
Those two songs were kinda nice
But they were sure nothing
Like the old songs Journey'd do

I say now rock and roll dudes rarely turn me on
But something about his vocals sticks
When he sang about the "Lights"
And when they go down in the city
While Neil Schon would shoot guitar licks

Where is Steve Perry today?
His albums aren't found in the used CD store
Steve Perry today
The band jumped the shark when they shoved him out the door
Steve Perry today
Somebody help him!

The dude sounded cool when he hit those high notes
From the 8-track player in my car
Escape blares out as the jukebox plays
At my favorite Yuppie bar

Listen
They say his singin' ain't the greatest
But I tell ya
He's slowly gaining popularity again
He's hangin' with the jocks
In Chicago's White Sox
And he's singin' "Don't Stop Believin'"!

Oh yeah,
Where's Steve Perry today
He ain't singin' with Journey any more
(Where have all the Steve Perry fan clubs gone?)
Steve Perry today
Maybe he's shopping in a Walmart store?

Now where did he, where did he, where did he screw up?

(Where's Steve Perry today...?)

You've hinted that you had to write some of the songs in this mega-project of yours from lyrics sheet alone, I'm guessing this is one of those because it doesn't really flow with the orignal. On the other hand this OS is a biatch to pace, I know from first hand experience, so if I'm wrong I apologise. 444 Either way.

You are a bundle of energy. I'll go with Peter on the pacing. 4-5-5

I agree with the pacing comments, but otherwise, this is 5 worthy.

I actually saw Journey without Steve Perry, they stunk. So I bought a dvd which included some old live performances, which were much better. 555 amps

There will never be as great a singer as Steve Perry and his fans are still out there. He gave us such sweet melodies. Nuff said!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If ignorance is bliss, you must be the happiest person on earth...Steve Perry is beyond parodies or opinions or cynicism. He marked the history of music with his talent. More then you or I could ever imagine or ever do.
