The Lyrics
Now for a little 'harmless' (is Tolkien harmless?) fun. I'm doing this mostly from memory and whatever else I can find about the time under the mountain when that big flaming critter shows. I haven't read those books in years, and only saw *one* (too stinkin' poor) of the movies - and I scarce recall it.
Under the mountain, I hear the balrog cry,
Hiding in the darkness, nowhere can I spy,
Down halls we wandered, seeking anew the day,
Sulfur in the air, we smelt. Run, you fools! Today!
I thought this place a dream until I saw it show,
Never so cold and distant, I'm far from home,
And hear the hot wind blow...
Once again running, Death slavers at our back,
Living in a nightmare, it thinks us a snack,
Flames like burning fever, waving a crimson sword,
A spirit come a-flaming, it halts not at his word.
I thought this place a dream until I saw it show,
Never so cold and distant, I'm far from home,
And hear the hot wind blow...
Weapons are no use, you see; Balrog's in front of you and me,
No escaping, it roars anew with glee - can't get free.... No!!!!

I hope that works - at least until I get to write about Iggy, Desmond Alley, and the deepest witch-hole in the heart of the planet.

Excellent title idea, wish I thought of it five years ago. As for freshing up your memory all you have to do is to head over to YouTube and search for "Balrog" and you'll get the LoTR scene.
