Song Parodies -> "Acne Treating"

Original Song Title:

"Silent Running"

Original Performer:

Mike + The Mechanics

Parody Song Title:

"Acne Treating"

Parody Written by:

Parker Gabriel

The Lyrics

Essentially, this was the result of all those wretched commercials and late-night paid programs William Guthy and Gregory Renker were sponsoring for Proactiv(R), a supposed treatment for acne that's primarily available through mail-order. I wondered if the American Academy of Dermatology--the A.A.D. mentioned in the lyrics--would regard it and/or other such treatments as quack medicine!
Have you acne vulgaris
Of Grades from 1 through 4 now
Are there zits and breakouts you can see
Don't believe those companies
Or buy the junk they sell you
Believe in us we are the A.A.D.

Have you zits now
Have you zits and breakouts
Have you zits and breakouts anywhere upon your face
Have you zits now
Have you zits and breakouts
Have you zits and breakouts anywhere upon your face

They've blown a mint on TV time
Especially late at night
They're hoping that you'll buy the junk they sell
But that'll waste your money on
Some junk that wrecks your skin
Since you ignored us that may be just as well

Have you zits now
Have you zits and breakouts
Have you zits and breakouts anywhere upon your face
Have you zits now
Have you zits and breakouts
Have you zits and breakouts anywhere upon your face

What your local drugstore sells
Is really not much better
Than a single size for fitting everyone
Only that which we prescribe
And can tailor strictly to you
Will solve your problem and make it once-and-done

Have you zits now
Have you zits and breakouts
Have you zits and breakouts anywhere upon your face
Have you zits now
Have you zits and breakouts
Have you zits and breakouts anywhere upon your face
(fade out)

Man, I'd rather listen to the Original version than this crap that Parker Gabriel song that satires "Silent Running"

Not to be gotten wrong; "Silent Running" from Mike + The Mechanics is a splendid selection. What was really being attacked here was the direct marketing, through television and otherwise, of non-prescription products for the treatment of acne vulgaris which, for all anyone knows, the American Academy of Dermatology may want recalled as less than effective.

Not bad at all, but more changes in chorus would have upped this. Yeah, I'm b****ing about a 3 year old parody, but I hope you see it as constructive criticism.
