Song Parodies -> "We are the Borg"

Original Song Title:

"We are the World"

Original Performer:

Michael Jackson/USA for Africa

Parody Song Title:

"We are the Borg"

Parody Written by:

Steven Cavanagh

The Lyrics

A song about joining together as one was just too easy. The original song doesn't rhyme at all apart from the chorus, so I thought I'd sacrifice some 'pacing' score for better flow.Warning: Chorus can get stuck in head.
There has come a time
When the Federation falls
and we all will join together as one
See your people dying
Oh, and give in to our demands
And plug, yourself into the wall

You can't go on, pretending day by day
That your species can exist so wild and free
We disintegrate whatever's in our way
And resistance is futility

(Chorus:)
We are the Borg
We're a collective
And you will all be part of us one day,
It's our objective
There's a choice you're making
You'll join us or you'll die
And you will see a better way,
No "you" and "me"

We'll cut out your heart
And install a pump for free
and give you gadgets instead of hands.
Then you'll be a part of
our big family
And it won't, be hard to open cans

We are the Borg
We're a collective
And you will all be part of us one day,
It's our objective
There's a choice you're making
You'll join us or you'll die
And you will see a better way,
No "you" and "me"

BRIDGE:
No, there's no way out
You will become a drone
Your distinctiveness
Is added to our own
Well, well, well, now realize
You'll like it if you try
a little laser on your eye

We are the Borg (We are the Borg!)
We're a collective (We're a collective!)
And you will all be part of us one day,
It's our objective!
There's a choice you're making
You'll join us or you'll die
And you will see a better way,
No "you" and "me"

( REPEAT CHORUS AND FADE )

**Lowers his shields, surrender a distinct 555 and a shameless self promotion of his own old Borg parody song: http://www.amiright.com/parody/90s/neworder0.shtml**

Good choice surrendering purity for flow, in my opinion. 5/5/5

Great parody, but in case you haven't noticed, both Picard and Janeway have whipped some nanotechnological booty! And not just in their own century! (I hear rumors to the effect that even Archer has, though records from that time are sketchy.)

Gee Rice, you could have been tactful and said I had my Finger On The Pulse Of Popular Culture :-)

(ABC-W) Fav. line:

And it won't, be hard to open cans

Love Trek parodies especially Borg ones.

(ABC-W) I've got a mental picture of a bunch of Borg holding hands in a circle. Twisted and excellent.

Ten minutes in the agony booth for that pun, Mr. Duncan. But try not to laugh at this? Resistance is futile!

Borg philosophy although logical is quite irregular.

(ABC) Oh! It's a Star Trek thing... (never watched a single episode). But nice parody.

Very nice! A few minor timing glitches I noticed, but not enough to prevent me from 5ing you.
Peregrin - December 18, 2004 - Report this comment
Merry! Absolute shame on you! You really don't know what you have missed out on, especially with the Borg. They would be right up your alley, sadism-wise....

Now, the parody: First place Steven, great job, laughed a lot.

(ABC W) Well, Steve, I didn't get "bor(g)ed" reading this one...Collectively we have decided to score this as straight "5's" - I didn't have any real problem with the pace and the OS had different pacing where many of the separate parts were sung a bit in the style of whichever performer bleated them out...nice work...OH...yeah, the part about the "cans" was particularly funny...

Sorry, Stevenagh, but "We Are the World" is too obscure for me. Please pick a more recognizable song next time.

Heh heh. Nice job. I'm not really into the Star Trek thing, but I live in Utah, so I totally get this.

(ABCfinals) In retrospect, I realize that this is the only ABC round I participated in last year. This parody is a fond revisit for me because it hasn't lost it's humor value, and it showed me that losing in an AmIRight parody contest is just as fun as winning. :-)
