Parody Song Title:

"One Month More (till graduation)"

Parody Written by:

neminem

Another in the series of songs relating to my life - one about applying for college (Signin' up for College), another about writing the essays (One Word Closer). Now I'm in, and boy am I excited. I started writing this about a month ago, obviously. It would have made more sense to release it then than now, but I couldn't think of a couple of the rhymes, so I dropped it for a while. Anyway, I changed the characters around as I saw fit, and of course to sing the second part, you'd need the libretto, as everyone sings at once.
Excited: One month more!
Just one more month and I'll be free of here
This never-ending work is really drear.
The teachers just don't understand
My mind is in tomorrow land.
One month more!
Missing 1: So excited for that day,
But from my friends I will be parted.
Excited: One month more.
Missing 1 and 2: Tomorrow we'll be worlds away
And it was here my world was started!
Nervous: Once more I'll be on my own.
Missing 1 and 2: Will we ever meet again?
Nervous: College life seems so uncaring!
Missing 1 and 2: I'll be lonely without you!
Nervous: But the life I've always known
Missing 1 and 2: But at least we'll meet on AIM?
Nervous: Doesn't half compare to there!
Has Boyfriend: One more day my choice is due!
Has Girlfriend: Do I follow where she goes?
Has Boyfriend: Merely days for my decision!
Has Girlfriend: Choosing wrong could lead to hell!
Has Boyfriend: An idea's yet to form.
Has Girlfriend: Do I show how much I care?
Has Boyfriend: Will she go to school with me?
Chorus: The time is close!
We're almost there!
Excited: One month more!
Teacher: One more month till graduation.
You can hear the students yell,
"We're adults, not longer schoolboys,"
Can't do zip but fare them well.
Excited: One month more!
Parents: Watched 'em run amuck,
Caught 'em when they fell
Now all of a
Sudden gotta say farewell.
Here a little praise,
There a little touch,
Worst thing is I know that
They won't miss me much
Rebel Students: One month to a new beginning.
And we'll shout our freedom loud!
We'll be doing our own thing!
We'll all do our own damn thing!
Start anew away from mother!
Start anew away from dad!
Do you hear the seniors sing?
Has girlfriend: My mind is made,
I'll go with you!

EVERYONE SINGING AT THE SAME TIME

Excited: One month more!
Student 2: So excited for that day,
But from my friends I will be parted.
Excited: Just can't wait for my professors!
I will follow in their roads!
I will learn the world's secrets!
I'll know everything they know!
Nervous: Once more I'll be on my own.
Excited: One month more.
Students 2 and 3: Tomorrow we'll be worlds away
And it was here my world was started!
Teacher: One more month till graduation.
You can hear the students yell,
"We're adults, not longer schoolboys,"
Parents: Watched 'em run amuck,
Caught 'em when they fell
Now all of a
Sudden gotta say farewell.
Excited: That day still seems so far away.
One month till graduation day!
One month till graduation day!
Nervous: One month till graduation day!

END EVERYONE SINGING AT THE SAME TIME

All: Tomorrow we'll discover
What our life at college has in store
Few more dawns,
Few more days,
One month more!

Very good, neminem! This is a powerful song in "Les Miserables," and your parody has done it justice. Even though your timing might have been better a month ago, I really commend you for not rushing to get it on amiright. I think the result was worth waiting for.

Heee-uge! Great stuff, I was really into this one. You may see me doing a parody on a similar topic around October!

(ABC) I didn't know the music, but your powerful word play got my attention. Really good job! 5's

(ABC) Clever construction with the multiple characters. Is this the song from the show where virtually every characters comes out from behind the wall of garbage and someone waves a revolutionary flag--something like that? Nice job. 555

I liked it too, neminem!

Don't know the original, so it really made no sense to me. But as a wise person once said, "no sense is fun to not make." Fun to read though.

abc--good song!

(ABC) Can't relate to the subject matter (whatever happened to the days when kids went to college in their hometown?) but very prodigious effort.

Thanks all! And especially to Claude, who I see has also read my quotes list at some point :-D.

I did something almost exactly like this walking home from school, working on it every day for the week before graduation, but I never got it to come out quite right. This is really, really good, thanks for putting it up here.
