The Lyrics

This week started the Penal Tour de France, a bike ride for 194 prisoners and 124 of their closest prison guards and biking instructors. The 1,500 mile trek will allow them to bike, build a team mentality and see the countryside. According to the BBC article (, they will have to stay as a group and no break-aways. Prisoners say that this is "an escape from prison life." Here's one prisoner's story
Was in a prison Colony
Tour de France, Tour de France
I saw my chance to break for free
Tour de France, Tour de France
Freedom lies over this hill
Tour de France, Tour de France
My redemption from Bastille
Tour de France, Tour de France

In the pack they said we’d stay
Tour de France, Tour de France
They said there’d be no break away
Tour de France, Tour de France
While riding in the Pyrenees
Tour de France, Tour de France
I turned my bike and broke for free
Turn to Spain, Turn to Spain

(Heavy breathing)

Now the cops are after me
Sprint to Spain, Sprint to Spain
'Tis better than "HEY LADY!"
Break to Spain, Break to Spain
I peddle now with all my might
au revoir, au revoir
Spanish border within sight
Adios, Adios!
