The Lyrics

I wrote this based on a true story. A girl who was destined to become a karate star was run over by a drunk driver. She ended up paralyzed and could not function as she used to. Her mom came to my school to give a speech about the incident. I was thinking about it and decided that this song's melody and tone were suitable for the event. Every time I hear the original song, this is what I think of.
Sitting beside you
In the ambulance
Feeling your hand in mine
Softly I whisper, "Mommy is here"
How could she have been so blind?
You once played karate
But now you will not
You'll be in a wheelchair
And cry

Now you are being held
In mother's arms
You couldn't run
What can I say?
So you're being held
In mother's arms
It won't be the same
And the lady's to blame
Mother's arms

Living without fun
Living in pain
Our lives have seemed to change
Wanting to keep you
Wanting you here
How much we wanted you home

But now that the neighbor
Has gone to jail
For your suffering
She will pay
