The Lyrics

An ode to Corporate America...Couple of things: One, after I thought of this, I checked to see if anyone else had done it. Rice Cube and Walt Daddy did. Theirs is great, and I'd like to give them props. But I think our concepts are pretty different. Secondly, I'd like to say that the pacing of the original is really inconsistent. And weird. But I assure you that mine is on. Even if it doesn't seem like it...
I want a new job
Where I don't have to kiss
Every ass that walks by my door
To keep myself off their list

I want a new job
Wanna get outta bed
With a big smile upon my face
About the day ahead

One that won't make me crazy
One that won't make me blue
One that makes me feel like my boss might have a clue
But that would never do

I want a new job
Where I don't feel
That my check is so small
I'll pay just one bill

I want a new job
One that won't go away
One where each time I see a box
I wonder if it's my last day

One that won't make me crazy
One that won't make me blue
One that makes me feel like my boss might have a clue
But that would never do

I want a new job
Where folks do what they should
Won't put a knife deep in my back
Cause you know they would if they could

I want a new job
Uppers won't spout
Lies and B.S. every damn day
Will I find it? I doubt

One that won't make me crazy
One that won't make me blue
One that makes me feel like my boss might have a clue
But that would never do.

EXCELLENT!!! I can TOTALLY relate! My job is pretty shaky right now and I feel the same way every time I see a box headng my way. ;) You gotta love corporate America!

Ash - nice job. 5's. I've done a few with this story-theme. If you know Jim Croce's "Operator" you might take a gander at my "Corporate Raider" parody.

5's, and I hope you find what you're looking for! (even THAT sounds kind of like a parody title...)

Don't know the original, but I'm wondering if that is really such a bad thing based on your comment. I can definitely relate. Nice rhyme scheme, and it reads very well as a free-standing piece. Oh, heck, I've always been a sucker for peer pressure. 5's

Thanks you guys!

Cookie, I will try to love corporate America...I will try really really hard.

Paul, I will check it out for sure!

Arwen, thank you, my darling. If you say my pacing is on then I KNOW it is on.

Johnny, LOL, I hope I do too. (Sigh)

And 2nz, way to waffle! Thanks my dear.
