The Lyrics
The 1972 Miami Dolphins are still the only NFL franchise to go an entire season undefeated. They went 12-0 in the regular season, and then went on to win the Super Bowl. (And I think Gloria Estefan was still a little girl when this happened, but it's natural that I use what was arguably her best-known hit for a tribute to her hometown Dolphins.)
They tell me the Dolphins were the greatest team of all
Cause they never lost a game, they dominated pro football
Other teams may try to do what the Dolphins used to do
But they all fall short and that is why these Dolphins stand alone on top now
