| Parody Song Title: | "Just Like Writing Parodies" |
| Parody Written by: | Genius in Maine |
I briefly dabbled in original songwriting, and this song sums up why I prefer writing parodies. Also, the line "Now I don't want to write my own" was supposed to be "Now I don't want to write my own tunes", but that couldn't fit.
Writing music used to be a bore
Always was serious, always wanted more
Until AmIRight (Am I Right)
I then went out to a record store
I got an album
Listened to it all night
Yeah, it's all night
That record was by an Al Yankovic
And due to it, I learned something
A new song style, and what a trick
This must be just like writing some parodies
Now I don't want to write my own
This must be just like writing some parodies
Now I don't want to write my own
Having lots of fun by makin' new words
To the existing tune
It isn't just for the birds--rightly
That's all right with me!
No special talents, just a knack for fun
You'll use it often
Even after the song's done
Some folks say writing them is not a skill
(And some folks say)
And I say back, what do you know,
It is an art, not a time kill
This must be just like writing some parodies
Now I don't want to write my own
This must be just like writing some parodies
Now I don't want to write my own
Always was serious, always wanted more
