The Lyrics

Can someone tell me who performed this parody of Copacabana? I heard these lyrics on the radio around 1984 and would love to find the original recording (with the female chorus singing out the word "banaaa-ana" :) ). Just now I found the complete lyrics on another site, but without any attribution.
My name is Barry,
Sing like a fairy,
I sing bad songs about romance
While I'm wearing spandex pants,
I'm kinda shrimpy,
My songs are wimpy,
I had a series of big hits
But that was back in '76,
Now no one wants to hear,
They only laugh and sneer,
They won't admit that they own my albums
'Cause my songs are queer

[Chorus]
Got a nose shaped, like a banana,
My two fans both live in Montana,
Got a nose shaped, like a banana,
Up my nose you could fit half of the city of Atlanta,
I write the songs

I've got a honker
The size of Yonkers,
When I get a stuffed-up nose
I need Dristan in a hose,
But now I'm on the case,
My life is back in place,
And so I'm singing again and sticking
My schnozz in your face

[Chorus]

I heard DJ Max Kinkel tell this story on WCBS-FM in New York. It was 1975, and he was covering Barry's show in Detroit for the NBC affiliate. And during the interview, a part of the stage was roped off because Barry didn't want the stage crew near him while he rehearsed. And he kept demanding ice. It was an outdoor amphitheater, and it was summer, and it was Detroit. What do you think happened? When the interview was over, Barry went to get his ice, and it was all melted, 'cause the stage crew couldn't get it to him because of the rope. "And I reported it that way on the air," Max said. "I was, like, 'Lighten up, Barry!'"

Great story, Michael P.! I never cared for Kinkel....but this story earns him some points! (Although he's no Bob Shannon!) RIP WCBS-FM

I originally heard this song on B100's (which turned into Star 100.7 & now Jack 100.7) B-Morning Zoo with the Rich Brothers in the 80's. I was in the habit of recording material off their "Funny Song Fridays" & managed to snag this one. It's currently sitting on my hard drive with a bunch of other bits & songs they did. Some of my favs were the Leave It To Beaver & Andy Griffith show parodies they did with a mock Clint Eastwood as Beaver & Opie.

Was it the Rich Brothers that made those Eastwood parodies? Cause I have 7 of them on tape, the Star Trek one where Clint is Spock is priceless...Ive been trying to find those Eastwood parodies

I assumed it was Bob Rivers as he was the king of the "twisted tune" on FM radio. I think he started out as a member of the ACN (American Comedy Network) before doing his own thing.
