I have this next door to me every summer holiday.
555, and here's what to do: when they're really BLASTING their stereo, go down to the building's main power switch, pull the switch "OFF", count to 3, then throw the swtich back "ON". When my wife and I lived in an apartment in Boston, there was a loud party on the floor above us, and our across-the-hall neighbor warned us to turn off appliances in our unit before he pulled the main power off-and-on. We did, and then we watched our neighbor do what I described above. When he pulled the power-switch to "OFF", the lights went out, the blasting stereo upstairs went suddenly silent, and we started hearing yells of surprise and dismay from above. When the power-switch went back "ON", the lights came back --- but the stereo did not --- it's hard to pump music through speakers blow-out by a power-surge.

This is very good! I can't believe I missed it a month ago. There have been times that I could relate to this, given that I've lived in apartments and had to deal with neighbors playing loud music. Anyway, here's another perfect 5-5-5 vote for such good material! ;)

Nice job, Larry. Techno isn't music, it's a pharmaceutical accessory. I recently went on a camping trip and had neighbors that played loud techno literally all night every night. I tell you what - once you learn to sleep through THAT, you can sleep through ANYTHING. At least it was just a camping trip - if I shared a duplex with people like that, I'd wait until they were asleep (starting at, say, 9 AM) and turn Michael Bolton on full-blast. On repeat. And leave.
