The Lyrics

I called dibs on this song months ago, and figured it was high time I got around to writing the parody.
Much is amiss in Washington, D.C.
People are pissed, and not very P.C.
Congressmen shout - ranting about
The mandate they won - nothing gets done
Let's throw them all out!

We're sending these jerks to Washington, D.C.
We find nothing works, then we wonder why we
Can't save a cent, or make the rent
The war money flows, but nobody knows
Just where it went

Washington, D.C., how much worse could our Capitol be?
Not sure who they're working for, but it's not you or me

Plenty of blame in Washington, D.C.
Rove aimed at Plame, 'cause it happened that she
Married a guy who wouldn't lie
So we could bomb that freak Saddam
And our kids could die

(Trumpet solo, much like the one in "Penny Lane". Hmm...wonder how that happened?)

Washington, D.C., how much worse could our Capitol be?
Not sure who they're working for, but it's not you or me

Elephants cold in Washington, D.C.
Donkeys will fold in Washington, D.C.
Rich ones get more, screwing the poor
Wrapped in the flag, it's such a drag
Let's show them the door!

Washington, D.C., how much worse could our Capitol be?
Not sure who they're working for, but it's not you or me

Washington, D.C., how much worse could our Capitol be?
Not sure who they're working for, but it's not you or me
In Washington, D.C.

great hook line: "Not sure who they're working for, but it's not you or me" probably halliburton, phizer and general dynamics great biting cynicism.

Thanks, guys! Alvin - my other option was my home town, but there are only so many rhymes for "South San Francisco"..."don't call it Frisco", "covered in Crisco..." As it is, this may be my first political parody in years that didn't use the term "corporate whore". A sign of growth, mayhap? ;)
