| Parody Song Title: | "Springtime for Yankees" |
| Parody Written by: | John Harvey |
With luck, this scene will be in a movie a friend of mine and I are making.
New York baseball having trouble really not quite cheery.
Needed a new leader who would win another series.
Where oh where was he?
Where could that man be?
We looked around and then we found a stinking S.O.B!
Chorus:
And now it's Springtime for New York and Steinbrenner
Da Bronx is happy and gay.
We're buying up the greatest team.
Watch us unfold our latest scheme.
Springtime for Yankees and Steinbrenner!
Winter for Boston and Mets.
Springtime for Yankees and Steinbrenner!
Come on Yankees! Go into your stance. (Cue Tapdancing yankees)
I came here for all the glory that is why they call me Torre. (More tapping)
Don't be moopin', don't be cranky you all know you love the Yankees. (Yet more tapping)
Chorus:
Springtime for Yankees and Steinbrenner!
Jeter's our leader today!
Ball's flying out to right again. (Bat cracking sound followed by cheer)
New York is on the rise again.
Springtime for Yankees and Steinbrenner!
Fair weather has come for fans.
Springtime for Yankees and Steinbrenner!
It's that soon we'll be owning, we've got to be owning.
Soon we'll be owning the WORLD!
Needed a new leader who would win another series.
Where oh where was he?
Where could that man be?
We looked around and then we found a stinking S.O.B!

And now it's Springtime for New York and Steinbrenner

It appears that the Yanks have justed Anschlussed Johnny Damon.
Bad move. Damon will never make the cut. Besides, what do we need the self-proclaimed "Idiot" for? We've already got the Great Sham-bino, Alex Rodriguez! Maybe Damon can pinch-hit for him after he loses the center-field job to the man to whom it rightfully still belongs, Bernie Williams.
The funny thing is, I actually had not been aware of the acquisition of Mr. Damon by the Yankees. This parody is a fairly broad poke at the Yankees and I think it works.
This song was definitely the work of geniuses! Two geniuses perhaps! Maybe this could even be part of a movie! Yeah that might work. Brilliantly written John! Hope we'll see the live product soon.
