Longbottom Leaf
Longbottom Leaf
It gets those hobbits stoned beyond belief
Longbottom Leaf
Longbottom Leaf

On his white horse Shadowfax
Ol' Gandalf gallops into town
I bet that old Istari Chief
Wants some
Longbottom Leaf

Sauron don't know the Ring's nearby
'Cause Gondor keeps him occupied
Frodo, Smeagol, and Sam are
Sneakin' 'cross the moutainside

All Middle-Earth is fightin'
To fend-off Mordor's genocide
And when the war is over,
Longbottom Leaf will get 'em high

Longbottom Leaf
Longbottom Leaf
It gets those hobbits stoned beyond belief
Longbottom Leaf
Longbottom Leaf

On his long legs, big ol' Strider
Comes a-hikin' into town
I bet that big ol' Ranger Chief
Wants some
Longbottom Leaf

Every hobbit down in Southfarthing
Grows Longbottom in their yard
It springs up quickly like a weed, so,
Growin' it's not hard

So if things get too confusing, hobbits,
Forget about your grief
And pass around that Hobbit-Hashpipe full of
Longbottom Leaf

Longbottom Leaf
Longbottom Leaf
It gets those hobbits stoned beyond belief
Longbottom Leaf
Longbottom Leaf

On his way to The Grey Havens
Elrond breezes into town
That old immortal Elven Chief
Wants some
Longbottom Leaf

Thanks Adagio, and thanks Arwen - and Arwen - check out the free sample link - it gives you the chorus of the original song....

Johnny D - I don't know a "hobbit" from John Bobbitt, but I do know the original "Panama Red" and I can tell the pace is right on. And the words? Well, even without knowing who they are they are certainly goofy enough to be funny. So I'm post-dating the "5-5-5" I just put up for you and will have to try and get a "Cliff-notes" education (do they still have those?) on LOTR (I JUST figured out what that means tonight, honest). My brother wrote something about it once, he was a fan of sorts. I remember one of his characters was "Dildo Baggins", that's not one of the series real characters, is it?

Thanks Paul - "Dildo Bugger" is the name given to "Bilbo Baggins" in the parody of "Lord of The Rings" called "Bored of The Rings". Here's a list of some of the funny alternative names given to major characters in that parody: Goodgulf(Gandalf), Frito(Frodo), Spam(Sam), Moxie(Merry), Pepsi(Pippin), Stomper the Ranger(Strider), Arrowroot Son Of Arrowshirt (Aragorn Son Of Arathorn) Bromosel(Boromir), Gimlet(Gimli), Legolam(Legolas), Tom Benzedrine and his magical lady Hashberry (Tom Bombadil and his magical lady Goldberry), etc etc etc and on and on and on LOL !!

Johnnie, that Harvard Lampoon parody was the only reason I read those tedious books. I used to read the Tolkien until I couldn't stand it, then read the parody until I got up to that point. That gave me the strength to go on. Sometimes I feel alone out here thinking that LOTR are overrated tomes. The movies are cool for the effects, but they still suffer from the march /fight march/fight /monster/fight /noble speech/ march/fight problems of the books. To this day I sing the Nimoy song "Oh Dildo, Dildo Bugger, the dumbest little Slobbit of them all....." That book, by the way was written by Doug Kenny and Henry Beard. Kenny died many years ago from falling off a cliff in Hawaii. I have a map of the world on my wall Beard did where all the cities of the world are given fake and funny names. (Cities in Greenland: Godforsaaken, Uninhaabit, Oilslik, Notworthhaven, etc)

Rick D - Saw your comment post from 12/21 on the Henry Beard map with the re-naming of cities. I think it was couple years ago when the New Yorker front cover was one of the greater NYC area with names like "Udontunderstandistan", etc., it was hilarious. So "Rings" are not your thing? You think I won't be hobbled by not knowing too much about hobbitt's and the like, eh? My friend downloaded and burned a CD of the "Amiright Tribute" and gave it to me this morning. I'm not sure if it's the whole thing or just mine and a couple selected others. But I'll find out at lunch today when I listed to it. Looking forward to it, I'm probably the last of the authors to hear it, but today's a good day for me to do so. It's winding down here for me and I'm ok with that but a few extra giggles never hurt.
