| Parody Song Title: | "We Call the Loud One Howard" |
| Parody Written by: | John Jenkins |
Democrats have three options to get ourselves empowered:
The thin one's Wes, the tall one's John, and we call the loud one Howard.
When Howard loses caucuses, his actions can be fright'ning,
And Howard Dean is so far left, he thinks Bill Clinton's right wing.
It's Howard, it's Howard,
We call the loud one Howard.
Before we knew of Howard Dean or heard him wail and whinin'
We had Al Gore back in his days of internet designin'
Now Howard's on the internet; his site can't be surmounted,
And he has raised so much darn cash, not even God can count it.
We've soured, we've soured,
We've lost our faith in Howard.
Once Howard led in all the polls; now he trails John Kerry
'Cause when we learned of his short fuse, we voters became wary.
Yes, his image has declined; he thinks the media turned it,
But when we try to the blame, there's just one man who's earned it:
It's Howard, it's Howard,
Who got himself deflowered.

'Cause when we learned of his short fuse, we voters became wary.
Yes, his image has declined; he thinks the media turned it,
But when we try to the blame, there's just one man who's earned it:
It's Howard, it's Howard,
Who got himself deflowered.

Excellent John. Better strike while the iron is hot cause ol' dean is leavin' the seen. I heard this morning that his campaign manager resigned. Well done and executed to a very mellow classic song. But didn't Ed Ames do this one as well? Not sure who was first with it though. Don't remember the Trio doing this one at all.
Thank you Guy. This is a Lerner and Loewe song that was written for the movie/musical "Paint Your Wagon" (which starred non singers Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood) and I wasn't sure who sang it in the movie. But the other two writers on this site who parodied the song attributed it to the Kingston Trio.
I agree with you on Howard Dean's candidacy. I don't think he will withdraw until after the California and New York primaries in March, but the window of opportunity for exploiting the parody opportunities that he gives us is closing.

HA HA HA... I love the title.
Great, JJ ! 5's
Here I was thinking you were talking about my (Aussie) Prime Minister.
Well done, John! I was wondering, though. Is the wind's last name "Carey?" :D
Thank you, mac195, Johnny D, Steven, and Stray Pooch. SC - if you are implying that there should be more of a focus on international (not just American) politics, you are probably right. And, SP, the fire might be Cocker, but I’m not sure who the rain is.
Wow. Very, very well crafted. The pacing and feel were perfect. I loved the variations on each chorus. Excellent.
John - I missed this one when you posted it because I was on the road (driving back from my trip up North). Found it thanks to Leo Jay's comment today. 5's & thanks LJ...
Thank you, Leo Jay and Paul.
Another great one.
Excellent treatment -- top notch work. I don't recall this being from Paint Your Wagon -- one of my favorite musicals regardless of the two stars' singing abilities. My vague recollection is that this is from 7 Brides for 7 Brothers...??
Thank you, Elwood. But "They Call the Wind Mariah" is definitely from "Paint Your Wagon."
