The Lyrics

Prior to taking control of the House and Senate in 2007, Democrats appropriately criticized the use of earmarks by Republicans and promised to reform the earmark process. But earmarks remain a way of life in Washington, DC, with 11,000 pet projects (which frequently benefit organizations represented by lobbyists) totaling $15 billion inserted into 2008 legislation. These include 5 earmarks (one from Senator Obama) awarding $1.8 million to a “needy” Chicago aquarium that showed a profit of $8 million in 2007.
When buffoons are in charge of Congress
And lobbyists approach like sharks;
Then greed will guide the Senate,
As they dispense earmarks.

This is the reason they’re engaged with aquariums
And planetariums.
Imperious! Imperious!

Arrogant and overbearing,
Trying hard to show they’re caring.
To taxpayers, this is not fair;
Senators are full of hot air,
Bragging they “bring home the bacon,”
Hoping voters don’t awaken.
Delirious! Delirious!

When buffoons are in charge of Congress
And lobbyists serve as their banks;
They must return the favors,
So they fund big fish tanks.

This is the reason I’m enraged at aquariums
And planetariums.
They’re spurious! I’m furious!

Stop the fun times, incumbent fun times, not on my dime.
Stop the fun times, incumbent fun times, not on my dime.

(Fade to dolphins making noises to the tune –
from Chicago’s Shedd Aquarium)

John! Fine politicing here.

What they engage makes me wary-ous.

Nice slam on Bar-ama. But who'll stop McCain?

"So they fund big fish tanks"

Sub shark for fish and it would play better underwater and even to the south in Peoria. This gets the Guy DiRito three star fish award for excellence in political satire.
