The Lyrics

Let the record show that I wrote the first and only parody about White House Press Secretary Jay Carney moments after he assumed the job in late January of this year. Sad to say, Carney has managed to live down to my low expectations. I really don't see him as the Paul Josef Goebbels of the administration. He reminds me more of the farcial "Comical Ali" of the Second Gulf War. Oh well. At least I now have an appreciation of Robert Gibbs. ;D

O.'s Press Sec was a buddy named Robert Gibbs,
And he was great when he'd tell all those bare-faced fibs.
Now Bob is gone, and he's back with O.'s campaign.
Look who's now occupying Bob Gibbs's place.
A clueless dude with a blank and befuddled face.
Who's up there today? Some guy named Jay.
Carney is the doofus you'll see.

Watch him all these days and nights
Like a deer caught in headlights.
D.C. has no other sights
Quite like this doofus.
It's no shock he worked for Time.
This appointment - less than prime.
Droning like a busted chime.
He sure is a doofus.

Worked for Biden and that must have been fatigue,
Then got the call to come up to the major league.
The press briefs now can benumb a normal brain.
It's hard to tell what he says and he really means.
He's not like O. when he reads from his tele-screens.
Enough of this hack. Gergen, come back!
What a doofus is Jay Car-ney.

(Long...I mean LONG...instrumental interlude)

It doesn't matter if he can't communicate.
The White House just wants a man who can obfuscate.
Bill Moyers? Hell no! Nor Tony Snow!
Who's that doofus on my T.V.?
Who's that total doofus I see?
Who's that doofus? It's Jay.....Car-ney!

David Gergen returned to the Clinton White House after working for Reagan and Bush, Bill Moyers and Tony Snow were press secretaries for Presidents L. Johnson and G.W. Bush. As for Jay Carney, I am pleased that zombies are represented in the Obama Administration. ;D

OMR, 2 of the 3 voters so far must be doofi (5-5-1 & 2-2-2). IDNKTOS or like put-down style parodies, so I won't vote even though I'd like to offset them.

BJM - On a bit of second thought, this may have been harsh for me. No offense on your vote of "present". In a sense, it's an improvement. i'll take a 5-5-1 or a 2-2-1 anyday over an indiscriminate three aces. ;D

I'm a Carpenters fan so it's always good to see them well represented here.
