The Lyrics

During the Second World War, German saboteurs operating against Britain designed a range of unconventional bombs disguised as, amongst others: tins of plums, throat lozenges, shaving brushes, batteries, wood, coal and stuffed dogs. Arguably the most unconventional bomb was the chocolate bar bomb that was intended to be smuggled into the homes of the Royals with the purpose of assassination.[citation needed] None of the chocolate bars reached Britain, but British authorities did capture some in places as far away as Turkey, according to the MI5 file "Camouflages for sabotage equipment used by the German sabotage services". A secondary use for the proposed disguised chocolate bar was as an emergency hand grenade. According to MI5, the German weapons were similarly ingenious as those invented by Britain's Special Operations Executive, detailed in a series of files which had already been declassified in 1999. The bomb was made of steel with a thin covering of real chocolate. When the piece of chocolate at the end was broken off, the canvas detonator was pulled, and, after a delay of seven seconds, the bomb would explode. To kill a member of the British royal family, the bar would have had to be smuggled into the residence by the saboteurs themselves or smuggled into a box that would have been taken into the palace from an ordinary source. None of the saboteurs got close enough to London to carry out the Nazi plan. These ingenious objects got no further than four explosive cans of peas, which were found on German agents who landed in Ireland by small boat; the agents claimed that they hoped to get them into Buckingham Palace. Why a member of the royal family would be opening a tin of peas themselves, however, doesn't seem to have been taken into account.
(CHORUS)
Kill the Royal Family
Nazi choco-bar bomb for delivery
Kill the Royal Family
Nazis thought of every-thing

Enemy choco-bar had detonator
Food bomb in disguise
(DISGUISED!) and were disguised for pleasure
A complete surprise
(ROYALS!) Royals would bite end off- 7 second delay
Then they were toast
MI5 discovered the plot and bombs were detected
Intercepted in Ireland was how close!!!

Kill the Royal Family
Nazi choco-bar bomb for delivery
Kill theRoyal Family
Nazis thought of every-thing

Kill the Royal Family
Nazi choco-bar bomb for delivery
Kill the Royal Family
Nazis thought of every-thing

Living life in a world war is seldom fun
The Nazis would give the Royals a fright
(TRIED!) tried they did to alter the future
Royal goal was in sight
(SUCCEED!) No, there was no success
MI5 made sure everyone followed Palace rules
Servants would have handled the food (bombs)
Royal Family was strong
They were never fooled

Kill the Royal Family
Nazi choco-bar bomb for delivery
Kill the Royal Family
Nazis thought of every-thing

Kill the Royal Family
Nazi choco-bar bomb for delivery
Kill the Royal Family
Nazis thought of every-thing

(Chorus to fade)

I'll never look at a Hershey Bar the same way again. Could this have been what John Lennon meant when he sang "Give peas a chance"?

More than any other nation during WW2, Britain was exposed to or targeted by the most German secret weapons and projects: Enigma, magnetic mines, X&Y Gerat, LMBs, V-1 and V-2 missiles, almost V-3 gun, chocolate bomb, butterfly bombs, Hs-293 missile at sea, almost V-5 (DFS Bombensegler), Spanner IR, R4M rockets and Schrage-Musik in the air, Zaunkonig I-II, FAT, and Lerche torpedoes, Tiger I in N Africa, and so on... Britain responded with Colossus, Radar network, Meteor to shoot down V-1s, Barnes Wallis spinning bombs, 6" AT rockets, proximity fuses, D-Day funnies, Grand Slam and Tallboy bombs, and so on...
