Original Song Title:

"Xanadu"

Original Performer:

Rush

Parody Song Title:

"Forty-Two"

Parody Written by:

Patrick Yoness

This one's dedicated to my good friend Lance. He's Rush's number-one fan and loves Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Happy 42nd birthday, dude!
To seek the question-ultimate
Of universe and Life
To find the answer's forty-two,
and the world was made - by mice...

Hitched a ride on a ship of
probabilities
The Earth is history
From the little book, I took a clue: (Don't Panic)
I met a robot, so depressed
Planet sized - his brain
Marvin was his name
Searching for the lost - forty-two
--- Forty-Two ---
Trying just to save his home
Decreed to be torn down
To build a super-highway there
Arthur Dent's last stand
To seek the question-ultimate
Of universe and Life
To find the answer's forty-two,
and the world was made - by mice

A thousand years have come and gone
But Marvin's parking cars
The ship we take - not ours
Frozen in some predetermined flight
Looking for the override
Our end has just begun -
Dive into the sun
It's really not that hard - forty-two
--- Forty-Two ---
Trying just to save his home
Decreed to be torn down
To build a super-highway there
Arthur Dent's last stand
To seek the question-ultimate
Of universe and Life
To find the answer's forty-two,
To know the question would be nice!

I wanted someone to do this song! I like Rush and Hitch-hiker's Guide To The Galaxy as well. Has Lance read the Douglas Adams biography 'Wish You Were Here'? It's very good, but leaves this listener feeling sad that Adams died so young.

I'm honored to be honored by such a fine parody. It was too bad I didnt win the lottery and get RUSH to play at my 42nd birthday party, but this was the next best thing...

Yes! No, wait, that's my other favorite band. Loved the Hitch-hiker's series, too. This made my day. Fives for Patrick, and happy b-day, Lance, whoever you are! :)
