Song Parodies -> Perfect Family
| Original Song Title: | "Garden Party" |
| Original Performer: | Rick Nelson |
| Parody Song Title: | "Perfect Family" |
| Parody Written by: | Tim Hall |
This is my ironic tribute to the idealistic TV families of the 50's and 60's, including the family whose son created this song.
I turned on the television to watch a perfect family
I then saw picket fences and warped reality
Everybody looked way too happy, and they were all white
Homogenization, it was a bizarre sight
[chorus]
It's not the Fifties. It's not in black and white.
You see, life's in living color, so please take your blinders off.
Husband always went to work, the wife stayed at home
She did all the housework behaving like a gnome
He would come home every day, in his business suit
Yelling Honey I am home and think it is really cute
[chorus]
lott-in-dah-dah-dah, lot-in-dah-dah-dah
Family sat down to dinner, discussing how was their day
Ever though they were bored, they had something to say
Ricky and David talked about school, and more minor stuff
And their parents always gave advice. Life was never rough
[chorus]
lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah)
lot-in-dah-dah-dah
Wally and the Beav; they both grew up. Buffy was out on the street
Trying to work after cancellation and life was not that sweet
If you gotta watch television, I hope you have some sense
If you think it is reality, I really think you're dense
[chorus]
lot-dah-dah-dah (lot-dah-dah-dah)
lot-in-dah-dah-dah
It's not the Fifties. It's not in black and white.
