The Lyrics

Here's a parody for readers of Robert Jordan's fantasy series "The Wheel of Time". For those unfamiliar with this book-series, it's a classic fantasy-quest epic in the same genre as The Lord of The Rings. The hero, a young man named Rand al'Thor, is plucked out of his peaceful rural life as a sheep-herder to do battle with the Dark One (a.k.a. "Shai'tan") and save the world. Gee, where have we heard THAT plot-line before? Actually, I love "The Wheel of Time" by Robert Jordan --- it's a very entertaining series of fantasy novels. This parody is a synopsis of the theme of the first book in the series ("The Eye of The World"). "The Two Rivers" and "Emond's Field" are the names of Rand al'Thor's home district and village. "Lady Moiraine" is an "Aes Sedai" (pronounced "eye-sedd-eye"), a member of a sisterhood of women with cosmic powers. "Warder Lan" is Lady Moiraine's bodyguard, "bonded" to her in a magical-psychic-linkage. "Trollocs" are monstrous warriors similar to J.R.R. Tolkien's "Orcs", but bigger. "Fade" is a semi-human creature, somewhat similar to J.R.R. Tolkien's "Ring-Wraiths". "Baerlon" (pronounced "Bay-er-lawn") is a walled city north of Emond's Field. "The Dragon Reborn" is an ancient male Aes Sedai, who, according to prophecy, is destined to reincarnate in this world to defeat the Dark One in the climactic battle called "Tarmon Gai'don". Guess who "The Dragon Reborn" turns out to be?
Rand of The Two Rivers
Emond's Field sheep-herder
On the road sees someone

...dressed in black...

...wants you...
...al'Thor...
...you...
...al'Thor...
...you...

Now you'd better get out of here,
Said the Lady Moiraine today --
You'll endanger your family
If you ever decide to stay
Now you'd better get out of here
Now you'd better get out of here

(instrumental)
(uptempo rhythm shift)

Well Moiraine, she warned him
And a mighty crash
Came as Trollocs hit the town

And the first Fade said to the second Fade there --
Cut every human down!

Rand on the run
Rand on the run

And the Aes Sedai
And Warder guy
Took off for Ba-er-lon

With that
Rand on the run
Rand on the run
Rand on the run
Rand on the run

Said the Warder guy Lan with a heavy stare --
Well it's time to teach you, son

When al'Thor raised up his sword into the air,
Battle-lessons had begun!

Rand on the run
Rand on the run

And the evil plan
Of Sha-i-tan
Would not give up the hunt

For that
Rand on the run
Rand on the run
Rand on the run
Rand on the run

(instrumental)

See that
Rand on the run
Rand on the run
Rand on the run
Rand on the run

Well the night was falling
As the Warder Lan
Stood watch until the morn'

He's a crownless king
Bonded to guard Moiraine
And The Dragon who's Reborn

Rand on the run
Rand on the run

For the destiny

Of Rand you see

Is to
Save everyone

That's why
Rand's on the run
Rand's on the run
Rand's on the run
Rand's on the run

Can't do Saturday in Uxbridge but, some other time would be great. I used to do some amateur theater myself with the Burlington Players.
