Song Parodies -> "It's Wisconsin Dells"

Original Song Title:

"If Not For You"

Original Performer:

Olivia Newton-John

Parody Song Title:

"It's Wisconsin Dells"

The Lyrics

Note where, in the first chorus (i.e., third verse down), I allude to a radio advert for the Noah's Ark waterpark as aired in the late 1980's and early 1990's, part of a campaign urging people to avoid the crowds by visiting on Thursdays which later won an industry award. (The two characters, Maggie and Elayne, were discussing a visit to Noah's Ark over coffee @ the local cafe, if you wonder as to its premise.)
It's Wisconsin Dells--
And though it's a Midwest thing,
The world's beating a path to same,
And if you're wondering why--

It's Wisconsin Dells--
The Cedar Point of waterslides,
Of wavepools and Lazy Rivers, too;
In case you've got to cool off:
Go Wisconsin Dells!

It's Wisconsin Dells folks are talking about,
(Remember Maggie and Elayne?)
After all, Six Flags can be a bit too expensive,
And you want value for money in fun--
Well, there's Wisconsin Dells!

(electric guitar riffs)

It's Wisconsin Dells, quite the hot new spot
Folks are gravitating to
In spite of $3 a gallon for gas,
And some switching to E85....

It's Wisconsin Dells--
'Cause Branson has lost its appeal,
(Blame the jingo aspect of their shows);
And people really want some fun
In Wisconsin Dells....
Wisconsin Dells...
Wisconsin ... DELLS!!!
