The Lyrics

Written during the original run of the "People's Court" TV show, with the honorable Judge Wapner presiding...
Aaaaaaaaaaah! Aaaaaaaaaaaaah!
We come from the land of California, you know
Where the Surfers and the Vals bask in the sun's glow
Are you ready to go?
We're going to sue the repairman
And the neighbor's dog
Bitch and cry
Doug Lllewelyn is calling
Old Judge Wapner's
Comin out
He'll give a verdict after we all shout

Aaaaaaaaaah! Aaaaaaaaaah!
We come from the land of California, you know
Where the Surfers and the Vals bask in the sun's glow
Look up at the screen
Rusty the Bailiff makes sure
We're solemnly sworn to tell the truth
Boy is this some fun!
Stain on the dress
Won't come off
Verdict for plaintiff
Is 500 enough?

Well that's all of the show
I'm Doug Llwellyn
Reminding you if you're in a dispute just haul the lousy moron in.

ooh, ooh, oooh, ooh, ooh, oooh

This couldn't have been an easy song to parody and the pacing is right on. Ending was a little weak, but overall effort quite good.

I agree. But a great song to have a go at!

I third Merry, and I second Pippin. Good job with this difficult song.

(ABC05) I actually know this OS and have it on CD. Got lost a few times but I'll agree it is not an easy song to parody. Good job, 555.

(ABC2005) Tough OS, I'm not that familair with it but from what I know you did a fine job.

(L) I can hear Jack Black singing this one in School Of Rock - or maybe Gene Simmonds in Rock School - hmm, can't decide - nice work Agri

ABC-- I have to agree, Agri. This is a tough song to parody. But you did it. Well paced and good job.

(ABC05) Funny, I was working on this OS this month and couldn't finish it. Good job! 555

great job on pacing but i wasn't a big fan of the show so i didn't see the humour in it but i didn't penalize you too much

Never seen "The People's Court" so I didn't really have any clue to what was going on in this parody even with the little header.... A bit confusing Aggy sorry this one wasn't a favorite of mine.

(Artistry) Inspired title sub, and "Stain on the dress won't come off" foretold the 6-years-later Lewinsky affair :-).
bobpiecheese - April 26, 2009 - Report this comment
(Artistry) The pacing seemed really clunky in a few areas, but that's not suprising, given this is 20-year-old parody! Interesting idea (no idea what the hell People's Court is/are/whatever), maybe an update is in order?
Below Average Dave - May 04, 2009 - Report this comment
I have seen People's court, but this one didn't really catch me like most your stuff buddy. This parody is 20 years old? Well, it doesn't read that old, but anyway. . .interesting idea to a song that you could have written the original lyrics down and I probably still would have thought it to be a parody. . .
Red Ant - May 04, 2009 - Report this comment
Looking back now, there's enough pacing quirks I would dock it a point had I not already voted. Good parody about the PC, the court show that, for better or worse, spawned all the court shows we have to endure now. Good title sub too.
