The Lyrics

Well life on the boat is kinda laid back
You are there all alone and you all things gotta hack
It's compass and wind vane that keep you on track -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

It's a simple kinda life but it can be tough
when the storm is gonna rise and the seas are rough
With ten meter waves you'll think you've had enough -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!!

Well I got me a bass and I got me recorder
When the sun's comin' up I put all things in order
The seas are a world which know no border -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Yes, I have radar, GPS and gadgets all kind
but I can use the sextant and I know logline
Old nautical skills I will master just fine
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

While other girls go partying all night long
I'll get my bass and I'll play me a song
In the evening the stars will shine all along -
Thank God I'm sailor girl!

Well I got me a bass and I got me recorder
When the sun's going down I'll have bottle of porter
The seas are a world which know no border -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Well I wouldn't trade my life for anything, you see
The freedom of the seas is too precious for me
And I want to get out and I want to be free -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Yeah, Yuppies have yachts that are bigger than mine
And if they can sail them, oh, that's mighty fine
But that pennant at the mast you just can't buy -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Well I got me a bass and I got me recorder
When the wind's coming up I'll play song and another
The seas are a world which know no border -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Well I got a mainsail and I got a spinnaker
And jib, mast and boom, cooker and watermaker
And diesel if it's calm at the God's blue acre -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

My daddy taught me young how to sail and navigate
How to read the sea charts and set the wind vane
So I'll weigh up the anchor and I'll hoist up the sails
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Well I got me a bass and I got me recorder
When the sails going up I'll go wild blue yonder
The seas are a world which know no border -
Thank God I'm a sailor girl!

Glad to see you back Susanna- great song-555!!! Makes me want to do some naval songs too, but it is hard matching uop the right warship with the right OS. I just did Shinano but had to use SJH again as a tech launch pad as info parody. Well, she's not that well known...

I get seasick easily, but if you were singin' this to me, I'd ignore the waves.
