i can wheedle time and how
and i'll plop down for many more hours
i'm plannin' a spell of time spent well
with visions of dreamlike power
i climbed into my cot and threw the blankets off
i slept heavy too...how the hours flew
it is heaven when nothin' matters
when standin', i may lurch...have to perch
and eyes start strainin'
it gets too tough, i close 'em up
no consciousness remainin'
may as well get prone...and disconnect the phone

felt thick and foggy yesterday...i was slothful, i must say
lookin' forward to...a good ol' snooze
just roll up on the bed and lay
it seems i get too wound...reality gets me down
i ain't up for much..i have lost the touch
and thought of life just displeases
so i just stretch out...on the couch...sleep brings me mercy
for when i drift, no cares exist...the outside world can't hurt me
i shower and i feed...but soon a nap, i'll need
at home in bed...catchin' zs

it seems to me that
i've done my part
took on the whole world
but all that's ended
i have rescinded
a cue to snooze

no goin' back, grindin' my gears
for my refuge is right here
i'm just stayin' inside..and i mean to hide
don't visit...i won't appear
cause the whole thing just grew old
i smothered and wrecked my soul
but i made a stand..now i have a plan
to go under and never waken
guess its time to start...i'll depart..and not be woken
there's no encouragement, you see
my spirit has been broken
but i won't pass away...just sleep right through the day
