Original Song Title:

"Cocaine"

 (MP3)
Original Performer:

Eric Clapton

Parody Song Title:

"McCain"

Parody Written by:

Paul Robinson

The Lyrics

Yeah, I know that several other versions of this have been posted, but I looked at them and this is different pretty much throughout, except for perhaps the sentiment.
[instrumental intro]

Though he's strong in the South
there's reasons you should doubt
McCain...
Things he says do astound
should make you frown
inane...

He tells lies
then denies
no surprise
no shame...

Stuff he says he'll do
I just say "Ick", they're screwed
insane...

For sure, they are dumb
Don't elect this bum
that's plain...

Opened eyes
then surmised
sh*t won't fly
no way...

[instrumental break]

Plays your fears, that is wrong
please remember this Fall
his game...
So reject this hack
tell McCain to pack
say, "Nay"...

Realize
this old guy
ain't no prize
disdain...

So be wise
don't you buy
all his jive
refrain...

[instrumentals out to end fade]

I am confused: Is John McCain more like Elmer Fudd (inept) or Yosemite Sam (hot-tempered and impulsive).

JB, well, at least you THOUGHT you did. Tim H - Actually, I'm thinking more along the lines of Mr. McGoo...clueless, bumbling, cranky & irritable, and wandering around in a cloud of misperception. He's mostly harmless as long as you don't let him drive, decide anything important, or have access codes that can trigger nuclear armaments.

Nice subs/POV, Paul... was (only half) waiting for 'Pa-lain', but that would'a been stretchin' things, eh?

Thanks again, TJC. Didn't include Palin because I actually wrote this one back in July sometime...when Palin was just the obscure backwater Governor that she rightfully should have remained. Absolutely above her level even in that position. It's almost hard to think farcially about Palin, because the reality is just so honestly and incredibly farcial. The sad truth about Sarah Palin is just how incredibly plain and mundane the personality behind the phony imagery really is. There is no complexity to examine and no brilliant political Machiavellian manipulation behind her nomination...No, just an unvetted hack who has clearly proven herself to be an over-reaching, over-ambitious, craven opportunist with absolutely no discernable sense of decency, no sense of honesty and no concern for the consequences of what she says or does. Her selection as the Vice-Presidential candidate of the Republican Party is merely the unwanted bastard child spawned by the meandering, strategically challenged whims of the unstable shifting sands and incoherent stands that have been pressed slapdashedly into service as the foundation of John McCain's one last desperate, integrity-free lurch-leap at a Presidency he is neither emotionally, intellectually nor tempermentally suited for. How can one write sharply and cleverly about a candidate and a campaign that has consciously and intentionally shriveled and sunken to such a mush-brained, muddled, unfocused, mean-spirited, mind-numbing level of malicious mendacity. No amount of lip-stick can disguise just how scummy and cynical his campaign has become and how badly it reflects on anybody associated with it. The only question still unresolved is just how low McCain is willing to actually take this...it's all up to him at this point. It can't be stopped without him stopping it...all anyone else can do is stand aside with a tape measure, full toxic-waste protective gear and a shovel, wait for it to end, and then record the actual final depth. We should all be holding our noses in the interim.

If there's one thing I love about being an Aussie it's that I *don't* have to participate in US elections! However, I do love reading stuff like the above, and it matters not which direction it leans, it's all entertainment to me :) Parody-wise, neat job with difficultly-short lyric lines.

"No, just an unvetted hack who has clearly proven herself to be an over-reaching, over-ambitious, craven opportunist with absolutely no discernable sense of decency, no sense of honesty and no concern for the consequences of what she says or does"

I would suggest that you stop sugar-coating your views Paul, and tell us what you really think ;-p Muwahahah.

What a rant!!! 5 Star!!! good song too!!

I agree with Peregrin about the way Paul expresses his views. But, although Paul is my friend and a wonderful part of what makes AmIRight so compelling, I would suggest that, if he criticizes someone for what he perceives to be incompetence, he avoids words like "farcical,” that he doesn’t seem to know how to spell. Also, his opinions might be a little more convincing if he supported them with facts.
